At Midwest Detox Center, our goal is to help you feel comfortable and safe at our drug and alcohol detox center in Ohio. With that in mind, we want you to be able to bring comfortable clothing and other personal items that make you feel at home. You will be able to keep many of these items with you as you go through the detox.
Keep in mind that safety is our priority. Therefore, we have strict policies about what you can bring with you to detox. Below is a recommended packing checklist and information about prohibited items. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact our drug detox center today at 833.647.0392.
What Can You Expect When You Arrive?
While a detox center provides hope when you are struggling with addiction, it can also be intimidating at first. We strive to help you feel welcomed and to ease your fears when you arrive. That is why we allow you to bring necessities and items that are familiar.
When you arrive at our facilities, you will check-in and begin the admissions process. We may inspect your bags to make sure that you leave any prohibited items behind. You will also go through the registration process and possibly a medical exam. From there, you will be able to go to your personal room and get settled in.
We recommend that you bring the following with you when you begin your substance abuse treatment program:

Items You Should Avoid Bringing to Our Detox Center
Remember, your safety and ability to focus on drug and alcohol detox is the priority. Therefore, we have strict rules regarding what you can bring to our facility. Items that you should avoid packing include:
- Candles or incense
- Playing cards
- Electronics or video games
- Cleaning supplies
- Sporting equipment
- Unapproved over-the-counter or prescription medications
- Electronic cigarettes
- Food or drinks

Make sure you understand which items are not allowed so that there are no issues once you arrive. We may have some items available for you on the premises that we do not allow you to bring in on your own. If you have any questions about a certain item, feel free to call us in advance.
What Happens If We Find a Prohibited Item?
We understand that you may bring a prohibited item to the facility because you were not fully aware of the rules. In most cases, if you arrive at our drug and alcohol detox center with a prohibited item, we will likely send the item back home with the person who brought you to our center, or we may hold them during your stay.
